Free Store Friday
Join us every 2nd + 4th Friday of every month for our Free Store!
A free store is a form of mutual aid that provides a unique way for people to redistribute their resources in a sustainable way. Many of us have far too many clothes lying around so a free store is a way of ensuring that our collection of knick knacks end up in someones hands rather than in a place like Goodwill who sell their donations at an inflated rate or in a landfill. So really it is exactly how it sounds, a store where people can "shop" but all of the items are free.
We set up in front of the Catholic Shrine on the corner of MLK and Central right across from the Justice Center Towers. The best address to use is 48 M.L.K. Jr Dr SE Atlanta, GA 30334 and there is street parking available next to the church.

Revolution Retreat
By now you should know how we feel about self-care. We believe that you cannot take care of your community if you do not take care of yourself which is why we pooled our community resources to make this retreat happen.
If you are a Black organizer or know a Black person that has been out these past two weeks it's time for them to take a day for yourself. There will be yoga, good food, and workshops on community organizing.
If you are an ally, please consider supporting the retreat. We are in need of monetary donation which can be sent to @AtlantaSafetyNetwork and food donations!

Radical Self-care: Pleasure
To take care of yourself is to understand what you find pleasureable.
Pleasure is one of the most important and neglected human emotions. Often, we assocaite pleasure with guilt and fight to repress any ounce of satisfaction we find in doing human tasks like eating, relaxing, and having sex. It is integral to our survival as activists and marginialized people that we find pleasure in our lives, or else we will be cruched under the weight of our oppression.

Radical Self-care: Radical Honesty
Radical self-care cannot be acheived without radical honesty. In order to truly care for your needs, you need to understand and accept what those needs are. In this workshop we discuss how “radical honesty is a living, walking, talking out-loud meditation that moves you from reactivity to being a creator of your own life”. And how it fits into the framework of caring for yourself.

Radical Self-care
"Caring for myself is not self-indulgence. It is self-preservation, and that is an act of political warfare" ~ Audre Lourde
○○
Self-care is not only about face masks and wine; it's about decoupling yourself from the systems that were created to oppress us. This is especially important right now as more and more people are getting involved in mutual aid projects. You cannot help others until you help yourself, and you cannot change the system if you do not decolonize the way you care for yourself.
