What We Do

Our work is anchored by four core principles that work together to subvert oppressive systems, shift public discourse, influence decision makers, and cultivate ongoing relationships of mutual solidarity. Using these four principles we have been steadfast in our fight to decriminalize poverty, end the housing crisis in Atlanta, create new food pathways and more - by putting power and resources back into the hands of our community.

As a community of people who have been on the frontline their whole lives, we know that the system cannot be reformed, it MUST be replaced. That’s why we are fighting to ensure marginalized people have access to the resources, training, and support they need and build the liberated future they deserve.

  • Free Store Fridays

    Our Free Store is a form of mutual aid that provides a unique way for people to circulate clothing, household items, books and more in a sustainable way and counteract capitalistic myths of scarcity. The Free Store takes place every 1st, 2nd & 4th Friday from 7pm-9pm (or until food runs out).

  • Community Days

    Community Days are a bi-monthly community gathering series we started back in March 2022 to strengthen and deepen interpersonal connections within our community. We host a variety of events that range from speed dating/friending to karaoke and open mics that provide space for people to explore new hobbies and meet people with similar values.

  • Sol Food Grocery Delivery

    Through a partnership with local comrades, we are able to deliver free grocery boxes to neighbors in need. Every Friday our volunteers pick up boxes from a local church and deliver them to various folks across the city.

  • Sol Below

    Sol Below is a community run warming station for folks not reached by the city’s winter warming shelters. Every night the weather falls below 35 degrees we go out from 8pm to 8 am to provide folks with temporary relief from the elements, hot food/drinks, winter clothing, sleeping bags, medicine, and more in a heated pop-up canopies to keep folks warm.

  • #SolutionsNotSweepsATL

    #SolutionsNotSweepsATL is a coalition of housed and unhoused organizers fighting to decriminalize poverty, end encampment sweeps and build towards real housing solutions that support poor, working class, and unhoused Atlantans.

  • Community Care Navigators

    Our Care Navigator Program is a peer support network that subverts the carceral approach of social work. Through a multi-day training we teach people with lived experience with incarceration, poverty, mental illness, homelessness and more - skills to become a peer support specialist so that they can provide support to others experiencing similar challenges. Our goal is to build durable networks of care built on trust, mutuality, and abolishing the over-policing of poverty and mental illness. Through this program we have been able to help people find stable/permanent housing, apply for government assistance, navigate the court system and find employment, and so much more.

  • The Atlanta Homeless Union

    The Atlanta Homeless Union is a grassroots movement led by people currently experiencing houselessness in the Atlanta area. The union was formed on July 4, 2021, as a response to increased policing of unhoused communities and anti-homeless violence. After 2 year long hiatus, the Atlanta Homeless Union is back to put an end to “crimes” of poverty and demand a seat at the table.

  • [Sol]idarity Housing

    [Sol]idarity Housing is community led housing project offering low/no barrier housing options to Black and Brown folks set to launch in 2025.
